Cameron’s plans to slash migrants’ benefits are ‘unworkable because of EU law’ | Politics | News | Daily Express.

The MEP, who is at the forefront to get Britain out of the EU, said there are “serious questions as to the legality” of Prime Minister David Cameron’s new assault on benefit tourism.

This week, Mr Cameron announced plans to halve the maximum period which new EU migrants to Britain can claim benefits from six to three months if they cannot find work.

But Mr Farage dismissed the new policy, claiming it was “just a matter of the Government still trying to play catch-up with public opinion”.

He said that European legislation requires “that all EU citizens must be treated equally when it comes to benefits” – meaning no difference between migrants and Uk nationals

He continued: “This isn’t a matter of opinion. This is European law.
